In numerology, the personality number is calculated from the consonants in your first and last name. Where the soul number touches your secret desires, the personality number describes something quite different: the first impression you give, the image others perceive before they even know you.

What is the personality number?

Western numerology breaks a person down into several complementary numbers. The best known is the life path, derived from the birth date. 2. Keep only the consonants (set aside A, E, I, O, U, and the Y when it sounds like a vowel).
3. Replace each consonant with its value, then add everything up.
4. Reduce the total to a single digit by adding its digits together, unless it lands on a master number (11, 22 or 33), which you leave as it is.

A worked example

Let's take the first name MARIE. Its consonants are M and R (the vowels A, I, E are set aside).

• M = 4
• R = 9

We add them: 4 + 9 = 13. The total, 13, has two digits: we reduce it. 1 + 3 = 4. The personality number of "Marie" is therefore 4: an image of solidity, reliability and seriousness.

With the full name, the logic is identical: you add the consonants of the surname before reducing. If the calculation lands on 11, 22 or 33, keep these master numbers without reducing them — tradition credits them with a particularly marked presence.
