Seen differently, it is above all the planet that asks for time — and time, in astrology as elsewhere, is what turns an intention into something solid. That's an excellent reminder that this is neither an anomaly nor a curse, but an extremely common configuration — one whose reading is nuanced, never alarming.

The Saturn return: the calculation that speaks to everyone

Saturn takes about 29.5 years to make a full circuit of the zodiac. So it periodically comes back exactly where it was at your birth: the famous "Saturn return."

The calculation fits on one line: year of birth + 29.5. For a person born in 1997: 1997 + 29.5 ≈ 2026-2027 for the first return. The second arrives around 1997 + 59 ≈ 2056, and the third, rarer, around 2085. In practice, Saturn passes over its natal degree several times because of its retrogradations, which spreads the period over twelve to eighteen months rather than a single date.

Astrological tradition associates these passages with stocktaking: does what you have built still stand? This foretells no specific event. Many people go through these years without any dramatic rupture, and that is just as valid.
